Have a question?
Frequently asked questions
What are epoxy floors?
Epoxy floors, otherwise known as polymer flooring systems, are created by the combination of two or more chemical ingredients applied to a concrete surface that harden or “cure”. The result is a flooring system that is durable, chemically resistant, easy to clean, anti-slip and anti-dusting. We use the industrial/professional grade floor coatings.
This is NOT a DIY system. The systems sold at the Depot stores consist of mostly paint, not epoxy, and only provide a thin coat which leads to a high risk of peeling within 1 to 2 years.
How long before we can start using the floor?
To ensure lasting results, it's crucial to allow your floor ample drying time. After 48 hours, you can safely move items back into the garage. However, wait 72 hours before parking a car on the floor.
What do I need to do to prepare for the epoxy job?
The garage must be empty upon our arrival due to insurance reasons; we're unable to move items.
Exceptions:
-
Fridge or Washer/Dryer: We can help move these if they're disconnected, but we cannot disconnect appliances like gas dryers due to liability concerns. Ensure the fridge is empty and contains no glass items. Have an extension cord ready. We will only move these items outside the garage door, not through interior doorways. Please inform us ahead of time so we can bring a dolly.
-
Water Softeners: We work around these but do not disconnect them. If removal is needed, please handle it yourself or contact the water softener company.
Please note, we do not return to move items back.
Items Off the Ground: Items on shelves or overhead racks are not a problem. ***
Why hire a professional installer?
AI Assistant:
Proper concrete preparation is crucial for a successful installation. A professional must inspect current conditions to determine the best preparation method. Existing coatings or curing agents may need to be removed, as sealing over imperfections will highlight them. Proper leveling, crack and joint repair, and patching with compatible materials are necessary to minimize substrate imperfections.
Polymer coatings require special handling and safety equipment. Professional installers possess the necessary expertise, including knowledge of reactive properties, mixing ratios, temperature and humidity ranges, and chemical compatibility.
